La Marzocco Celebration of Signature Beverages
This is the first of a series of monthly illustrations for La Marzocco USA to celebrate the beauty of the SigBev (that’s ‘Signature Beverage’ - like an inventive cocktail only for espresso drinks.)
For February, I decided to commemorate the 1-year anniversary of Andrea Allen’s 2020 U.S. Barista Championship win. Andrea is co-owner of Onyx Coffee Lab, and one of my personal heroes. She created a layered effect taking the espresso tasting notes of rose, papaya, cara cara orange, and panela and blending them with clotted cream, papaya, passionfruit, and maple syrup. Shaken over ice, and served with aromatic rose hand towels, this drink secured her win in one of the worlds most renowned and challenging coffee competitions.
